How to restrict directory access by IP address?

In order to secure your admin area from hackers, we recommended you to allow access only from your selected IP to your admin directory. You just need to create an .htaccess file in the directory where you want to restrict access by IP Address.

For example, if you have a WordPress blog installed on your main directory like example.com/wp-admin, you should create an .htaccess file in /wp-admin/.htaccess and you should put this code in, and not forget to replace the allowed IP address with your IP address.

order deny,allow
deny from all
allow from YOUR-IP-ADDRESS-HERE

(Replace “Your-IP-Address-Here” text with your IP Address)

You can test this by accessing your /wp-admin IP address from another IP address which is not allowed by your .htaccess file.

How to Enable or Disable Mod Security in cPanel?

Is your IP frequently blocked when you access a wordpress admin area or any type of script with a web browser? Are you left with the feeling that your IP is blocked or that the server is down or isn”t working?

If the answer is “Yes”, then it may have happened as a result of Mod Security.

What is Mod Security?
ModSecurity is a module which protects your website from various types of attacks. Mod Security protects our website from hackers, attacks, a brute force attack, a cross-site request forgery(CSRF) and many other threats. Although it sometimes creates a problem, we do not recommend you to disable it but instead fix your software vulnerability. The reason for this is that ModSecurity only blocks your website if your software security is bad.

Disabling ModSecurity can help you determine whether your IP or your client/visitor”s IP is blocked by ModSecurity. If it isn”t the case, however, it means that your IP is blocked for a different reason. However, if you are sure that ModSecurity is the reason your IP is blocked, then contact us and we will find the exact reason behind it, in order to resolve your issue so that you will not be required to disable the module.

How to Enable or Disable Mod Security in cPanel?
1. Log into your cPanel account.
2. In the “Security” section, click on the “ModSecurity” Icon.

3. If ModSecurity is enabled, it will show a “Disable” option, click it and ModSecurity will be disabled on all your domains. Next time, if you want to enable it, you will only need to click on “Enable”. This will enable it on all domains.

How to Disable ModSecurity Only on Selected Domains and not on All Domains?
It is possible that you have multiple domains and you wish to disable or enable ModSecurity only on selected domains.

1. Login to cPanel and from the “Security” section click on the “ModSecurity” Icon.
2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
3. Under the “Status” option next to the domain, click on “On” or “Off”.

 

How to Enable the Two-Factor Authentication on Your cPanel Account?

Security is important for our data safety and we recommended you to enable the Two-Factor Authentication(2FA) on your cPanel account so that hackers will be unable to access your cPanel account even if they have somehow obtained your account”s user and password details.

What are the Requirements?
You will need a smartphone with a supported time-based one-time password app. Mobile Phone OS like Android, Windows, iOS and Blackberry have an app for 2FA.

How to Enable the Two-Factor Authentication on Your cPanel Account?
1. Log into your cPanel account.
2. In the “Security” section, click on the “Two-Factor Authentication” Icon.

3. Under Step 1, Scan QR code using your Google Authenticator or 2FA Authenticator APP and if your APP doesn”t have a QR Code reader, you can manually enter the Account name and Key number.

4. In Step 2, under the “Security Code” text box, enter your Two-Factor Authentication code and click the “Configure Two-Factor Authentication” button.

You will see a message, such as “Success: Two-factor authentication is now configured on your account”.

How to Disable the Two-Factor Authentication on Your cPanel Account?

If you want to remove the Two-Factor Authentication from your cPanel account, follow this instruction.

1. Log into your cPanel account.
2. In the “Security” section, click on the “Two-Factor Authentication” Icon.

3. Click on the “Remove Two-Factor Authentication” button.

4. For confirmation, click on “Remove”.

You will see a message like “Success: The system removed the two-factor authentication from your account”.

How to Add a cPanel email account on Apple/iOS?

You can add a cPanel email account to your Apple IOS mobile and be able to automatically check emails in a specific time or manually do it. You can get a new email notification on your email.

1. Open the main screen of your Apple Mobile and click on the “Mail” Icon.

2. Select the “Other” Option.

3. Tap on New Account and then under the “Imap” option. Enter an email, your full cPanel email address and a description such as Support Account, etc. Then press  the “Next/Ok” button.

4. It can take a few minutes to verify the login details.

5. If the account is successfully added. Go to the Home Screen and click on Settings.

6. Scroll down and tap on Mail, Contacts, Calendars found under the setting option.

7. Under “Accounts”, tap on the email account you created in step 3.

8. Under IMAP option, tap on your email address.

Note: Mail option should be turned on (Green) and Notes should be disabled.

9. Under “Incoming Mail Server”, your info should be as follows:
Hostname: Your domain name such as example.com
Username: Your full email address such as you@example.com
Password: Your email password.

10. Now Tap on SMTP domain under the “Outgoing Mail Server option.

11. Make sure that the “Primary Server” status is “On.

12. Outgoing Mail Server
Hostname: Your domain name, such as example.com
Username: Your full email address, such as you@example.com
Password: Your email password.
Use SSL: Off
Authentication: Password.
Server Port: 587

(If you want to use an SSL, then check the port under your cPanel email configuration details. You can find these details under your cPanel >> Email >> Your Email >> Email Configuration)

Some Tips: If you have entered everything correct and the incoming or outgoing email shows an authentication error or does not work, then try to use your main cPanel account password instead of an email password.

How to check/fetch an email on Apple/iOS?

You can set an automatic email sync frequently but should you want to manually check for new emails, then you must go through this tutorial. However, before checking for new emails, you must make sure that you have already added your email account. Otherwise, examine our tutorial on How to add an email account on iPhone/iOS”.

1. Open the main screen of your Apple Mobile and click on the “Mail” Icon.

2. Under Mailboxes, tap on Inbox.

3. If it automatically starts syncing, you will need to wait for a few seconds. Otherwise, manually tap on the screen and it will display “Checking for Mails..”

4. Congratulations. You learned how to manually check emails. If any email comes in your inbox, it will be displayed. If no new email has arrived, you will see an empty box.

How to Automatically Sync or Fetch a cPanel email on Apple/iOS?

You can automatically set an automatic email syncing option. This means that if you received any email on your cPanel email account, it will be fetched/synced with your Apple/iOS mobile.
1. Open the main screen of your Apple Mobile and click on the “Settings” Icon.

2. Tap on “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”.

3. Now tap on “Fetch New Data”.

4. Select any option such as “Every 15 Minute” or manually select an option and set your custom time to frequently sync emails with your cPanel email server. If any new email arrives, a new message will show up in your inbox.

Now your email will be automatically synced/fetched with your iOS/iPhone.

How to Change the Signature of an Apple/iOS (Sent from my iPhone)?

If you send an email via iOS, a signature will be automatically added in reply such as “Sent from my iPhone”. But do you know that you can customize this signature as well?

1. Open the main screen of your Apple Mobile and click on the “Settings” Icon.

2. Tap on “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”.

3. Now tap on “Signature”.

4. Customize your signature.

After changing it, your iOS will send your customized signature instead of the default signature.

How to Add a cPanel email account to an Android mobile?

You can add a cPanel email account to your Android mobile using the built-in email application. You do not need to use any external application from Google Play.

1. Open your android mobile, go to the main menu and the “Settings” options, and under the “Accounts” option, tap on “+ Add Account”.

2. Now tap on the “Corporate” or the “IMAP” email icon. Both are the same.

3. In the account setup, enter your full email address such as “you@example.com” and your email password. Then Tap on the “Next option.

4. You will get 3 options and you just need to tap on the “IMAP” option.

5. Make sure you are using your domain name in the server field, for example “example.com”, and the port should be set to 143. Then tap on the “Next” button. (Leave all other options as they are.)

6. Under “SMTP Server”, change “smtp.example.com” to “mail.example.com” and change the port to 25. Then tap on the “Next” button.

7. If you want to change the inbox sync frequency, then do it. Otherwise, tap on the “Next” button.

Congratulations! Now, whenever you receive an email, you will be notified. You can see a list of email accounts from your Android at Settings >> Accounts >> IMAP.

There is a list of accounts, sync on/off details and a new email notification.

How to read cPanel emails on your Android mobile?

If you have already added your cPanel email accounts to your Android built-in email application, you can also add a widget to your Android screen to read your cPanel emails easily by just opening a widget.

1. Open your Android mobile. Tap on the blank area of your home screen for a few seconds and you will see a number of options displayed, such as Wallpaper, Widget, etc. You just need to tap on Widgets.

2. Swipe until you find the “Email Folder” and then tap on it for a few seconds. Then drag it to your Android screen.

3. You can see how we can drag it to an Android mobile screen.

4. Now it will show an option to choose a folder. Tap on “Inbox”.

5. Tap on the “Done” button.

Congratulations. Now you can easily read, compose or check emails by just opening an email icon which is created on your home screen.
